How do they work?

Root Rocks are made from recycled plastic "noodles" designed to drain excess water. We cut these into approximately 45mm cubes which make them the perfect size for roots to encapsulate.

What sort of root systems works with Root Rocks?

Many plants are Monocot roots which are fibrous, meaning they form a wide network of thin roots that encapsulate themselves around Root Rocks.



What are Root Rocks made out of?

Root Rocks are made from recycled plastic that may otherwise go to landfill or incineration.

There are very few plastics that we can't recycle!



Where are Root Rocks made?

Root Rocks are manufactured in the UK using a patent granted process.



How long do Root Rocks last?

Root Rocks are fully re-useable.

Each time you give a Root Rock a new home you are permanently diverting plastic away from landfill , giving it a fresh lease of life and new purpose.



Why Root Rocks not the same shape and size?

The process to create Root Rocks starts life as an irregular drainage panel, with undulations that help it to drain. The nooks and crannies are perfect for roots to encapsulate, sometimes even growing through the void spaces. All Root Rocks are cut into approximately 45mm cubes and this will vary, a little more, a little less. Remember whatever the shape and size your Root Rock it will deliver happiness to your roots.



Do I still need to treat my plants the same?

Yes. You should continue to feed, water and treat your plants as you would normally. 



Are Root Rocks environmentally friendly?

Yes. Root Rocks are made from recycled plastic, meaning each Root Rock that you give a new home will permanently divert plastic away from landfill or incineration, giving it a fresh lease of life and new purpose! 



Will I use less soil or compost?

Yes. Due to the fact that Root Rocks take up space in your plant pot you will not use as much soil or compost.



How do I care for my Root Rocks?

When re-using your Root Rocks we advise that you can clean them down with water and a medium brush. You may also choose to use your preferred natural garden disinfectant, which will not cause any damage to your Root Rocks. If using such a product always follow the manufacturers instructions, read the label and rinse your Root Rocks thoroughly with clean water. Remove and recycle any loose noodles that may have occurred during transport.



Do you have safety advice?

Root Rocks are not for children who should be supervised at all times.

Root Rocks are made out of plastic and if any ‘noodles’ are swallowed medical attention should be sought immediately.
